Christchurch International Airport (CHC) is 12km west of the city centre. It’s the country’s second-busiest international airport and an increasingly popular international gateway, particularly for flights from Australia.
There are several airport shuttle bus services, including Super Shuttle, which operate a door-to-door service to hotels and hostels around Christchurch. This shuttle runs around the clock and charges $25 to go to most parts of the city.
A much cheaper option is the local bus routes (purple and route 29), although timing may not be practical if you have an early morning flight. The cash fare to the airport is $8.50 ($2.55 if you pay with a Metrocard), but it only costs $4 if you get off the bus a stop before the airport (near the Antarctic Centre).

Small airport. Quite busy. Don't arrive before 3hrs before your flight as checkin won't be open. Passport control also closes during off-peak hours. One oneworld lounge.

Once you passed the passport control, you get everything you need. Good place to lay down, water tank and free chess. By the way, if you want to stay overnight you cant get into air lough before3am.

Vastly improved domestic terminal over the claustrophobic nightmare that existed before. The regional turbo prop gates are on the ground floor and the jet gates are upstairs.

If you are planning to buy a phone sim card: go for spark. They have better coverage in remote areas and offer you 1GB for free everyday at their Hotspots! (Every phonebox is als a hotspot)

If your plane is very early in the morning, you can wait during the night at the Air Lounge, for 5$. There are bean bags to "sleep". You won't be allowed to stay in the airport otherwise.
