The history, the gardens, the high tea provided by the cafe--the whole experience was stellar!

The only castle of New Zealand which worth spending a day visiting. The garden and the view are also a good reason to come!

Beautiful view, but perhaps not the best in winter, as you can't enjoy the likely very beautiful and well kept garden. Castle itself is just an old house, but the family story is interesting.

Worth the stop. Don't miss the gardens which might be the best part.

An amazing refuge with a lovely garden. The only castle in NZ and worth spending an overnight stay. If so also book the dinner in the castle, just enjoy it.

You need a ticket even to walk outside the castle. No freebies here.

It's about 20km out of town and remember it's $27 entrance and you can see it unless you pay, not even from the outside. So decide if you want to pay before setting off.
