Gore likes to call itself the “Brown Trout Fishing Capital of the World”. It is a small town midway between Queenstown and Invercargill, and is the main commercial centre for the surrounding rural region. Gore is home to the Hokonui Moonshine Museum and is also known for its annual Country Music Festival.
